Mauro Paredes

Security Researcher

Mauro Paredes is a Security Researcher at Vectra AI focused on adversarial simulation, detection engineering, and threat prioritization across cloud, network, and endpoint environments. He builds and adapts tooling to recreate attacker behavior, map new or undocumented attack paths, and use offensive insights to strengthen detections and clarify emerging threats. His work combines hands-on exploitation research with a practical understanding of how real adversaries operate.

With more than 20 years in cybersecurity, Mauro has held roles at IBM X-Force Red, Deloitte, Protiviti, and SAP Hybris. His background spans penetration testing, offensive security, and red-team engagements, as well as exploitation research, digital forensics, incident response, and operational security. He has designed detection and security controls for large-scale, distributed, high-throughput systems, and earlier research—as part of a smart-city and IoT security team—highlighted systemic weaknesses in complex, interconnected environments.

He has presented at Black Hat USA and DEF CON and shared research through private briefings with enterprise security teams.
