“Ransomware has been waning as an overall attack vector, with only one device in every 10,000 showing signs of ransomware August 2017 to January 2018,” says Mike Banic, vice president of marketing at Vectra. “As ransomware waned in 2017, we saw a rise in cryptomining, which has been prevalent in higher-education.”
