What 400+ NDR Power Users Taught Us About Network Visibility

Fact: SOC teams are facing a deluge of threat detection, investigation and response (TDIR) challenges across modern hybrid, multi-cloud networks. We’re talking about various bottlenecks impacting network visibility due to the sheer volume of threats. The growing sophistication of threats. And now how attackers are utilizing AI to expand their target base for advanced techniques. These are trends that we have seen in our own research and through research that we’ve done with partners like Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG, now part of Omdia).

So, it’s only natural to ask ourselves how network detection and response (NDR) addresses the challenges that continue to show up in industry research

In partnership with ESG, we took a deep dive into how NDR power users are utilizing NDR today with the goal of understanding how NDR solutions can help close the visibility gaps so security teams can work smarter and reduce risks.

NDR trends highlighted

Without giving it all away (you’ll want to check out the full e-book) — here are few themes we noticed:

  • 53% say network visibility and telemetry is first line of defense
  • 49% say NDR reduces time to detection
  • 55% of organizations say it takes hours or more to determine if alert is a malicious true positive
  • 98% of organizations say network visibility helps move from detection to response faster
  • 31% say NDR with GenAI say impact is “game changing”
  • 53% say NDR has helped improve SOC analyst efficiency

Why this NDR research is key

This research was based on real-end user practitioners who live and breathe network detection and response every day. This specific group of users spans across multiple industry verticals including manufacturing, financial, retail/wholesale, and technology among others.

This research also shows there is a wide array of challenges, but navigating complex network environments while warding off attackers remains a stand out challenge. Network visibility isn’t optional anymore, it’s foundational. Security teams need the coverage, clarity, and control to not only close visibility gaps but ultimately lower risk across the board.
