Defending at AI Speed - Introducing Hunt Club Defenders Month

Most security work does not come with applause. It is the call someone makes early enough that an incident never becomes a headline, the analyst who notices behavior that does not belong, or the threat hunter who keeps pulling at a thread until the full picture comes into view.

The work has always required skill and judgment. Now, it is becoming more complex. AI is changing the pace of security, while identities, cloud workloads, devices, services, and AI agents are all in motion. Attackers can use that complexity to find gaps, move through an environment, and create impact quickly.

For defenders, that means more to see, more to investigate, and less time to decide what matters. They are stepping up to that challenge every day.

This Cybersecurity Awareness Month, we are changing things up and calling it Hunt Club Defenders Month.

A month celebrating the people on the front lines

Defenders Month is our chance to recognize the people protecting organizations through one of the biggest shifts security has faced in years. We are celebrating the analysts, threat hunters, security leaders, and practitioners who sort through noise, connect the dots, and make difficult calls every day.

Much of that work happens quietly. When it is done well, most people never see the amazing work they do. But their impact is real, and so is the pressure that comes with their job.

We created Hunt Club Defenders Month to recognize that work, celebrate the people behind it, and give the broader security community practical ways to learn from their experience. Throughout October, Hunt Club will bring together defender stories, hands-on learning, shared perspective, and a little fun along the way.

Defending at AI speed

The theme for this year is Defending at AI Speed.

This is not about asking defenders to simply work faster. It is about helping them see clearly, focus on the signal that matters, and act with confidence when the stakes are high.

Defending at AI speed means understanding where attackers can exploit gaps across network, identity, cloud, and SaaS. It means giving security teams the context to investigate what is real and act before an attack becomes impact.

AI has changed the environment defenders operate in, but it has not changed the value of human judgment. It has made that judgment even more important.‍

The co-defender mindset

At Vectra AI, we embrace a co-defender mindset.

We believe in showing up alongside defenders, not talk at them from the sidelines. Our role is to listen, respect the reality of their work, and help equip them with practical knowledge, useful resources, and the trusted Attack Signal Intelligence they deserve. That is what being a co-defender means to us.

Defenders Month is one way we put our co-defender mindset into action. October gives us a dedicated moment to celebrate the people doing this work, while Hunt Club gives us the opportunity to keep supporting and empowering the community throughout the year.

What to expect this October

Throughout the month, Hunt Club will bring together stories, hands-on learning, and ways for the community to participate.

Hunt Club Legends will recognize defenders whose leadership and work are making a difference across the security community.

We will share stories from the SOC, perspectives from people doing the work, because the best security conversations start with the defender reality.

Hunt Club Attack Labs and Blue Team Workshops will create hands-on opportunities to engage with the challenges of defending at AI speed, including AI-powered attacks and AI-assisted investigations.

There will also be community challenges, interactive moments, practical conversations, and opportunities to win Hunt Club Conference tickets and other prizes. Security is serious work, but the people doing it still deserve moments to connect, learn, be recognized, and enjoy the community of peers and co-defenders around them.

The start of something bigger

Defenders Month is an October celebration. The Vectra AI Hunt Club is the year-round community behind it.

We are bringing these experiences together so defenders can connect with peers, learn from real-world perspectives, and celebrate the people advancing the practice. More on the Vectra AI Hunt Club is coming soon.

For now, join us in recognizing the defenders in your organization and across the security community. Follow Vectra AI on LinkedIn throughout October to meet the Legends, hear the stories from the SOC, join the hands-on programs, take part in the challenges, and see what is next for Hunt Club.
